UPDATE 3/4/2020: Toyota has updated the recall related to fuel pump problems, adding 1.2 million vehicles in the United States to the list of recalled vehicles. Toyota said about 1.8 million vehicles were affected by the recall. Affected vehicles include models from 2013 to 2018 in addition to the previously named 2018 and 2019 models and affect most Toyota or Lexus models in their product lines. Toyota announced that it is recalling nearly 700,000 cars, including various Lexus models, as a fuel pump may abruptly stop working causing the vehicle to die.

In its statement, Toyota said if the fuel pump stops working, the engine will be active and various warning lights will light up. This can cause the car to crash and the engine cannot be restarted afterward. Toyota said that if the engine stops at higher speeds, the result could be a crash.
